Antwone Fisher Event, VUB Helps College Bound Veterans, Wine Center Opens, Literary Southwest, Remember in November Charity Poker Run


Author Antwone Fisher will be speaking (free) at Mingus Union High School (1801 E. Fir St. in Cottonwood) this Saturday, Sept 6, from 3:30-5 about the “Science and Culture of Hope.” Antwone’s inspiring story was told in a movie starring Denzel Washington a few years ago.

The Northern Arizona Veterans Upward Bound program is currently accepting Northern Arizona Veterans who would like a little extra help applying for colleges or financial aid, or refreshing their skills in math or writing.  Navigating college can be a challenge – we can help!  See more at www.yc.edu/vub

Want to learn more about wine making?  The Yavapai College community is invited to the grand opening of the Teaching Winery at the Southwest Wine Center on Friday, September 12, 4:30 p.m. on the YC Verde Valley Campus at 601 Black Hills Dr. in Clarkdale.
