Volunteering, Vetstock, Preparedness Month

There are lots of opportunities to get involved in your community by volunteering to a worthy cause.  Today's video is about Big Brothers/Big Sisters, a national organization that matches adults with children who need a mentor in school or after school.  If you don’t feel you can dedicate that much time, they do have fundraising events you can help with for just a day.  Our BB/BS Yavapai county fundraiser is called Bowl for Kids, in Prescott and the Verde Valley.  See the BB/BS video at: http://youtu.be/xdTpZdp9mYo

If you are looking for a fun event this weekend, try the Village of Oak Creek’s answer to Woodstock: Vetstock!  This event celebrates veterans, and will have entertainment, food and music, and all proceeds will benefit veterans’ charities.  See the website for more information at: www.vetstock.com

September is Preparedness Month, our friends at military.com remind you to prepare your families for weather emergencies or evacuations by having a plan and supplies.  For more info and ideas, see: http://www.ready.gov/
