Veterans and Parrots, Honor for All, Resume Engine, #GIBill Comparison Tool, Boots for Building

Here’s an interesting place where Veterans are volunteering to help parrots overcome abusive pasts, see: http://youtu.be/OF2W6tSSQGI   There are many organizations that can use your help with animals of all types: humane societies, wildlife and pet rescues, and fostering programs – why not help a furry (or feathered) friend along the way?

Alarmed by rising suicide rates, Vietnam Veteran Thomas Mahany started the Honor for All non-profit group to raise PTSD awareness and remove the stigma of seeking help.  See more about Honor for All at: http://www.honorforall.org/home/

Having trouble getting your resume just right?  Here’s a free tool to help you from Hiring our Heroes and ToyotaUSA at: https://www.resumeengine.org/

From Student Veterans of America: “The release of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs' enhanced #GIBill Comparison Tool heralds continued progress for discerning student veterans seeking to capitalize upon their earned benefits and turn their education into a successful career: bit.ly/1qKRX4k

More from SVA: “We've joined with our friends at Team Depot, Habitat for Humanity, and Team Rubicon for 'Boots for Building', pairing vet volunteers with service opportunities nationwide. America's veterans are primed and capable to positively impact our communities, and we're here to help them do just that.  From September 19-21st, join us for an inaugural weekend of collaboration and camaraderie: bit.ly/1tfbFvo

Veterans Upward Bound Helps You Prepare for Success, #VetQ, Seats for Soldiers, Arizona Offers Benefits to Veterans

The new academic year is off to a fast start – if you’re feeling left behind, it’s the perfect time to prepare for the Spring semester beginning in January.  Veterans in Northern Arizona can get the best start by contacting Veterans Upward Bound (www.yc.edu/vub or call 928-717-7686) for free help with financial aid and Veterans Benefit forms, admissions, career choices, and college preparatory courses.

Do you want to learn more about veteran benefits or are you curious about adaptive sports? If you can ask your question in 140 characters or less, tweet it to #VetQ on Twitter. The new social media campaign is a collaborative effort between the Department of Veterans Affairs and seven Veteran Service Organizations.

Sanderson Ford is recognizing service men and women through their Seats for Soldiers program. Active military soldiers, or recent medically discharged soldiers are eligible to be selected to win four seats to select Arizona Cardinal games. If you or someone you know would like to enter to win 4 lower level seats, with pre-game on field passes, please submit an entry in 200 words or less of why you or a soldier would like to sit in the Seats For Soldiers at an upcoming Arizona Cardinals game.  See more at: http://bit.ly/sanderson_sfs
